From Sheriff Robert A. Graves and the staff at the Sheriff's Office. We wish you a Happy Thanksgiving holiday. As we go into the holiday we want to make a few suggestions to make you and your family just a little safer.

1. Leave early and don't rush. Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel days you should expect more traffic and plan on some delays. Plan your route before leaving home.
2. Be courteous. Travel and delays equal stress. Remember to be courteous as we enjoy the holiday.
3. Charge your electronics before leaving. Charge the kid's electronics and your cellphones as these devices can ease your holiday stress on the road. Cellphones and GPS units can be a great help while traveling.
4. Pack smart. Depending on how you are traveling some helpful tips include planning on airport security and what items can be carried. Also for road trips, check your vehicle before leaving such as tire pressure including your spare and oil/fluid levels, as breakdowns on busy roads are no fun. If possible an emergency road kit is great. A spare key is very helpful if you are going long distances. Don’t forget the presents!
5. Enjoy your trip, take your time and on long trips take turns driving if possible. Remember snacks and drinks also ease travel, especially if you have children on board.
6. Alcohol and driving can ruin any holiday. Law Enforcement Officers we will be working and doing our best to protect against DWI’s.
7. As for your Sheriff's Office, we are still out there for you this Thanksgiving Day to make sure you and your family have a happy and safe Holiday!
