The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office will provide training for those interested in learning about church security. Sheriff Coy Reid and the Catawba County Sheriff's Office has provided this training through the Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit for many years. Because of a community outpouring for Church Security in the last week we will be providing several training events over the next few months.

Scheduled training sessions:

Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM: Maiden High School Auditorium, 600 W Main St, Maiden, North Carolina 28650

Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM: Christ Church, Mt. View Campus Sanctuary, 2416 Zion Church Rd Hickory, NC 28602

Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM: Mt. Pleasant UMC Community Center, 4136 Mt Pleasant Rd Sherrills Ford, NC 28673

Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM: Tri City Baptist Church Sanctuary, 1409 North Carolina Highway 16 North, Conover, NC, 28613

It is suggested that the church security team, greeters, ushers, or any other church leadership should attend the session. The Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Deputy will provide training to all interested church representatives from churches in Catawba County.

Sheriff Reid said, the goal of this training is to instruct places of worship regarding reasonable measures of safety when confronting a variety of threats and emergencies they may face during hours of worship.

Those with additional questions may call Lt. John Helton at (828) 465-8336. If the line is busy, you may leave a message and your call will be acknowledged.
