*** Scam Alert ***

The Corpus Christi Police Department has received several reports of the common “arrest warrant” scam.

The suspect has called several citizens and told them that they had a warrant for their arrest. They then tell the victim that they can take care of it over the phone by making payment by credit card or withdrawal from their banking account. Once the suspect has this information they will then drain the account of available funds.

How to protect yourself.

• A law enforcement agency will never have you pay for a warrant or ticket over the phone.

• Never give out your financial information to an unsolicited caller.

• Monitor your accounts on a regular basis to protect yourself from all fraud.
