On Dec. 9th 2018 @ appprox. 4:42pm, Deputy A.J. Kendra and Lieutenant Warren Gosnell both heard a fire & resuce call for a motorist suffering an apparent stroke and took it upon themselves to respond to assist.
Upon arrival, Lisa Fritsch was located behind the wheel of her vehicle, unconscious, and now in cardiac arrest, as her son Daniel attempted to help his mother while on the phone with emergency dispatchers.

Deputy Kendra and Lt. Gosnell worked together to remove Lisa from the vehicle and placed her on the pavement where they began administering CPR as rescue units were still en-route to the scene.
The Deputies gave chest compressions and maintained Lisa's airway while speaking to her encouraging her to breath and fight to stay with them. Members of Frederick County Fire & Rescue arrived a few moments later, as the Deputies continued their CPR efforts, and advanced lifesaving measures were started. Lisa was eventually transported to Winchester Medical Center, as a working code, with what was described as a fighting chance to survive.

Today, Lisa and her son Daniel came to the Frederick County public safety building to meet Lt. Gosnell and Deputy Kendra, where all four were reunited for the first time since that day in December almost exactly one month ago. It was great to see Lisa walking, talking and able to acknowledge and thank the men she believes were a big part of her survival that day. Lisa believes that her faith and the power of prayer from so many friends and family members played a big part, but it all began with people like Lt. Gosnell, Deputy Kendra and her son Daniel stepping up to help her that day in Kernstown and we agree.

Job Well Done Gentlemen!
