The Amherst County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Virginia State Police, Virginia Conservation Police, Amherst County Public Safety, Virginia Department of Emergency Services, and Virginia Search and Rescue Teams for their assistance in searching for Dorothy Reynolds. Sadly Reynolds was found around 5:57 pm. deceased near her home. I appreciate the support each agency offered to us in this difficult time.

The Amherst County Sheriff's Office had a heartbreaking end to the search for 96 y/o Dorothy Reynolds today March 7, 2019 after she had wandered from her residence and was reported missing. After missing approximately 20 hours Ms. Reynolds was located deceased at the edge of the woods about a 100 yards from her residence after a large emergency response was mobilized to search for her.
