Here's an example of a county citizen being alert and not falling victim to this ongoing scheme. This person received a letter and check in the mail with the wrong name on it. The citizen did their homework and called the company who said they had received multiple calls from people with the same check. Not only were individuals being duped, but also a legitimate business. Great job on not being a victim, remember 'if it's too good to be true, it probably is'! Thanks for passing this along and helping educate others from falling into the trap. Had the person cashed the check or sent the information requested, the scammer would have access to their bank account and potentially drain any money from it.
