Our sincere condolences to the families of these brave men & women. We are praying for their families, friends, colleagues and respective agencies.

Tragedy is happening all around us, yet our men & women get up, put on that uniform and simply do their job. They protect and serve us without reservation.

We are thankful for our faithful servants at KCSO as well as the other Police Departments and Sheriff’s Offices that we affectionately call our neighbors and friends. They are the ones who will answer the call to back us up and we will do the same.

This isn’t just a “job” for these men and women it’s a “calling” and one that could require them to pay the ultimate price!

Please remember those who sacrificed their life in service to others as well as all of our LEO.

-KCSO NAMES OFFICERS OF THE YEAR-

Sheriff Tom Spangler recognized three officers on January9, 2019 as the top officers of 2018.

Officer of the Year: Jeff Monroe
Detective of the Year: Keith McFarland
K-9 Team of the Year: Conner Amburn & K-9 “THOR”.

"You do feel good when you get to solve a case and know that the right person gets to pay for the crime they committed," said Detective McFarland. "I enjoy helping other people and making sure Knox County is a safe place to live."

Officer Monroe helped a woman in her 70's get back $19,000 she almost lost forever in a fraud case. He also made an arrest in the type of case he said is often hard to solve. "Hard to catch these people. I just felt like I had to do everything I could do to see that it got prosecuted."

Officer Amburn and his K-9 partner “Thor” we part of a team effort to capture a homicide suspect. “Thor” actually went up underneath the garage and was able to apprehend him safely, allowing us to take him into custody. Amburn cites the hours that he and his partner spend training along with the entire K-9 Unit for their success in the field.
