Franklin County Sheriff’s Office
Press Release
Sgt. Chris Guess
Public Information Officer

On Sunday January 13th at approximately 9:30pm, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies initiated a vehicle pursuit due to a driver failing to obey traffic commands while traveling through an accident scene on Old Tullahoma Hwy. Due to road and weather conditions, Sheriff’s Office personnel terminated the pursuit but did have knowledge of where the individual operating the suspect vehicle resided. Upon arriving at the driveway of the suspect Deputy Patrick Stefanski exited his vehicle and observed a man holding a compound bow. Deputy Stefanski moved behind his vehicle and the suspect (James Michael Ferguson 39 yr. old W/M 6050 Old Tullahoma Hwy) did discharge an arrow from the bow which embedded in the rear driver’s side door of Deputy Stefanski’s patrol vehicle. Deputy’s Stefanski, Kason Bolin and Samuel Penny did pursue Mr. Ferguson, on foot, and were able to place him in custody and transport him to the Franklin County Jail. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Ferguson had also vandalized his mother’s home and caused severe damage to the residence. Mr. Ferguson is currently being held at the Franklin County Jail under no bond and has a court date set for Thursday March 7th, at 8:00am in Franklin County General Sessions Court.
