ACH Upgrades Inmate HealthCare At Texas County Jail

Within the last few years, Texas county jails in Missouri have seen deaths of inmates which is reflective of lack of healthcare standards. Thankfully, this concern has been given an appropriate resolution. On May 21st 2015, Sheriff James Sigman officially announced the launch of a new healthcare program for Texas County Jail inmates. This whole new medical program gives emphasis on the type of care that is being provided to detainees. This focuses on providing them with proper medication or treatment as well as health advice; hence improving their overall health and wellbeing.

Through this new program developed by ACH (Advanced Correctional Healthcare), county jail inmates will be counseled and given the right disease preventive measures. With deaths mainly caused by chronic illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes, through the comprehensive healthcare system, detainees can be assisted on how to develop better health in a prison environment.

While the Commission on Jail Standards oversees the structural safety of the Texas County prison facilities, they aren’t really charged with ensuring that the inmates receive quality health care. However county jails are tasked to have a program that should manage the required medical services especially to sick inmates. Nonetheless, there was previously no standard that dictates how this care should be administered.

Through the new ACH program, the main aim is to raise the standard of care being given to the incarcerated individuals. Ultimately this helps in reducing jail cost and thereby saving taxpayers’ money. One of Sheriff Sigman’s goals is not only to help improve the health conditions within county prisons but also to reduce jail expenses and save the people’s dollars. In a small county with even one seriously ill prisoner can cause medical costs to rise steeply. With the new program devised by the ACH, both cutting health care cost expenses and saving money can be accomplished.

The Texas County Jail sees about 60 new detainees each day. They will be provided with the services of health care professionals i.e. doctors and nurses, as well as supplementary healthcare services, including an education program for these health workers to train them further in providing high quality health care to inmates.

With the application of this comprehensive inmate health care program, the county jail offices are able to purchase goods at a cheaper cost as they can take advantage of a discount pricing package. This program covers thousands of manufacturing companies and suppliers; hence the county can take advantage of the massive savings in usual expense areas such as office supplies and food or grocery items.

Advanced Correctional Healthcare is the leading provider of detainee healthcare services for county jails in the United States. They are giving services to over 245 clients across the country.
