BLAIR PA ALERT: Two separate winter storms will impact central PA over the next several days. The first system will bring a period of snow across Pennsylvania Thursday afternoon into Thursday night, producing a widespread 1-3" accumulation (locally 4"+ in the Laurel Highlands) by the time the snow ends Friday morning.

The second storm will spread snow into central PA on Saturday. The snow is expected to mix with and changeover to sleet and freezing rain (and possibly plain rain) across southern PA Saturday night, before ending as snow on Sunday as colder air returns behind the storm. Blustery northwest winds will produce bitterly cold winds chills Sunday evening into Monday morning.

For more information, see attached briefing or view online at https://www.weather.gov/media/ctp/Briefing/briefing.pdf.

Check out these safety tips from ReadyPA on winter weather preparedness. https://www.pema.pa.gov/planningandpreparedness/readypa/Pages/Winter-Storms.aspx

The Blair County Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce that we have met our goal in our fundraiser for a new K-9 vehicle!

Today Sheriff Ott, Corporal Bennett, and K-9 Rik met with the Michael E Ward Family Foundation where they were presented with a generous donation of over 50% of the projected vehicle fundraising goal. With this donation, we are now able to purchase a safe a reliable emergency vehicle to put K-9 Rik back into service.

With today also being National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, there could be no better timing for the Sheriff’s Office to say that we are very humbled and thankful for all of the donations, big and small, that we have received from donors nationwide.

Thank you!
