TRAFFIC SAFETY WARNING FROM THE MARATHON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

All roads in Marathon County are ice covered and slippery and we are experiencing a high volume of crashes. The Marathon County Highway Department has its trucks out spreading salt; however, many slippery spots remain and changing weather conditions and lower temperatures this evening will probably result in roads re-freezing.

If you need to travel, please exercise caution and allow extra time to reach your destination and be alert for rapidly changing road conditions.

On 01/10/2019 three Memorial Board Members of the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial were presented a $10,000 donation from two of the Marathon County Battle of the Badges Committee members.

Memorial Board Members spoke how this was the largest single donation they had ever received. They also spoke about how the memorial is almost full of men of women who had paid the ultimate sacrifice. This donation will assist with adding an addition to the wall.

Pictured from right to left are Memorial Board Members Mike Miller, Brad Breuer, Justin Pluess, Jeremy Bozinski of the Maine Fire Department and Marathon County Highway Department, and Ted Knoeck of the Marathon County Sheriff's Office.

This money was raised as a result of the annual Marathon County Battle of the Badges Tournament with the help of participants, sponsors, volunteers and the public that attends.
