The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run, three-vehicle accident that caused serious injuries last Friday night, July 7, in Bergen.

The vehicle is a blue, four-door sedan with driver front and side damage. If anyone has information regarding this vehicle, please contact the Sheriff's Office at 343-5000 or send a private message via Facebook.

The three-car accident occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Route 33/Clinton Street Road. The vehicle being sought was heading westbound on Route 33 and went to unsafely pass a Dodge Grand Caravan carrying six people that was also heading westbound on Route 33. The sedan impacted with a full-size pick-up truck that was heading eastbound on Route 33, causing the truck to flip over and end up on its side down the road. The two occupants of the truck were reported to be OK.

The van, however, traveled off the south shoulder of the road, and came to rest after striking several trees. One of the six occupants of the van was trapped and had to be extricated by emergency crews.

Personal message from Sheriff William A. Sheron, Jr.:
“As we travel down the highway this Memorial Day Weekend, let’s remember that it only takes a couple of seconds of distraction for your vehicle to cross over into oncoming traffic changing lives forever. Put down the cell phone, eat before or after you drive, pull over to adjust your GPS device; drive time is not spare time. Give all your attention to one of the most dangerous things we do…drive a car.”
