Indianola Police Department
The Indianola Police Department is taking applications for the position of Dispatcher.
▪Answer the telephone; Evaluate and process calls; provide information; takes and relay messages and/or direct calls to appropriate personnel; returns calls as necessary.
▪Operate radio frequencies to communicate with police and other emergency units.
▪Use of Computer –Aided Dispatch System, receive emergency calls from the public requesting police; determine the nature and location, determine priorities and dispatch police or other emergency units as necessary.
▪Obtain information requested by police officers (e.g., checking license plates, checking for wanted persons, checking for driver’s license information, etc…)
▪Communicate with other agencies, towing services, utility crews, etc., as needed.
▪Respond to routine requests for information or assistance from members of the staff, the public or other individuals.
▪Prepare and/or generate routine reports via computer system (e.g., Affidavits, Warrants, etc..)
Minimum Training and Experience Required:
High School Diploma (or GED) required; Valid Mississippi Driver’s License; Background free of any prior felony convictions, Domestic Violence and Controlled Substances Offenses.
Applications can be picked up at the Indianola City Hall located at 101 Front Avenue between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
