Deputy Sheriff Samantha Loe Honored by Ramsey County Board

Today, Deputy Sheriff Samantha Loe received a Ramsey County Employee Achievement Award for Excellent Job Performance and Community Contribution at the Ramsey County Board meeting.

Deputy Loe’s strategic, professional, and compassionate response to a 9-1-1 call featuring a potential weapon defused the situation at the scene and created an opportunity for her to do a follow-up with the young person and that person’s family using a restorative justice circle.
Because of Deputy Loe’s on scene actions, and especially her above and beyond follow-up over a period of months, one individual and one family’s life was changed for the better.

Kate Richtman from the County Attorney’s Office nominated Deputy Loe for the award. Sgt. Keith Olson of the Sheriff’s Office also praised Deputy Loe for her skillful use of community policing.

Congrats again, Deputy Loe!

Thin Ice Advisory
The Sheriff’s Water Patrol encourages everyone to use extreme caution when it comes to current ice conditions on area lakes. With the warmer weather, rain, and melting taking place, the ice conditions on lakes throughout Ramsey County are fluctuating anywhere from 1 to 12 inches and are not suitable for vehicles.
Area lakes with aeration systems:
• Pleasant Lake –North Oaks (No fishing or trespassing)
• Vadnais Lake-Vadnais Heights (No fishing or trespassing)
• Gervais Lake-Little Canada (East side near County Road C)
• Bald Eagle Lake-White Bear Township (North End near Anoka/Ramsey County Line)
• Silver Lake-North St. Paul/Maplewood (Northeast corner of lake)
• Otter Lake-White Bear Township (Eastside of lake)
Area lakes with flowing water entering or exiting:
• Charlie Lake (North Oaks)
• Pleasant Lake (North Oaks)
• Sucker Lake (Vadnais Heights)
• Vadnais Lake (Vadnais Heights
• Gervais Lake (Little Canada)
• Spoon Lake (Maplewood)
• Keller Lake (Maplewood)
• Round Lake (Maplewood)
• Lake Phalen (St. Paul)
• Long Lake (New Brighton)
• Bald Eagle Lake (White Bear Township)
Be aware of areas near bridges or the areas where flowing water is entering or exiting the lakes. Ice formed over flowing water and currents is often dangerous. The ice around channels, culverts, bridges and aeration systems can be deceiving and thin.
