Arrest Associated With 2015 Homicide Investigation

In October of 2015 the Weld County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the deaths of Zachary Allen Moore and Joshua Trae Foster. Today the Weld County Sheriff’s Office made another arrest associated with that investigation.

Jack Edward Larkin (12/01/1979) of Pierce CO has been arrested and is being held on charges of Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana (a class 3 Drug Felony) and Aggravated Robbery (a class 3 Felony).

Weld County Sheriff’s Investigators have been working diligently on this case, ensuring that it is investigated to our fullest ability. The investigation found reason to believe that Larkin lured Moore and Foster to Colorado with the promise of 20-25 thousand dollars’ worth of marijuana, and that he also assisted in planning the robbery of the victims.

All charges are merely accusations until proven guilty in a court of law.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is asked to call the Weld County Sheriff’s Office at 970-356-4015 or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-444-3776. Tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website at www.crimeshurt.com. Those submitting tips through Crime Stoppers that lead to the arrest and filing of charges on a suspect(s) may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000 from Crime Stoppers.

The Polar Plunge is coming!

On 03/04/2017 the Weld County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the Polar Plunge at Horsetooth Reservoir in Ft Collins to raise money for the Colorado Special Olympics.

We are dedicating this plunge to Chuck Personius, who is the relative of one of our staff members here. In 2016 we dedicated our plane pull to Chuck. Sadly, Chuck passed away in January of this year.

These events are not possible without your help. Please donate to the Colorado Special Olympics by clicking the link below. We desperately need your help!

A journey that started many years ago for two of Weld County’s finest ended today. Sgt. Ed Haffner and Sgt. Paul Wood retired from the Sheriff’s Office with over half a century of combined experience.

Sgt. Ed Haffner has served the Weld County Sheriff’s Office for 33 years. During that time he has worked in almost every area of the agency and has made multiple contributions to the Weld County Community, to include being one of the founding fathers of the Weld County SWAT Team.

Sgt. Paul Wood came to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office a short time after retiring from the United States Navy. He has served the Weld County Sheriff’s Office for 22 years, and has been an integral part of many projects here at the Sheriff’s Office to include the formation of a traffic unit.

Both of these men have been such a large part of our office for a very long time, and their absence will be noticed by all of those that they have interacted with as they served the Weld County community.

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Team Tom for their support!

A number of weeks ago, Team Tom heard that one of our Deputies had recently been put in the hospital after experiencing an extreme medical condition. Tom and Wendy reached out to us, and let us know that they had a fundraiser that they would like to use as an opportunity to help our Deputy through this terrible time; they came through in a HUGE way!

On Saturday Team Tom hosted the 6th annual Jack Robinson Lifting Classic at their new facility located in the Greeley Mall. Proceeds from past competitions have gone to different organizations, such as Colorado Cops, but Tom and Wendy saw this as an opportunity to help a local law enforcement agency.

Tom gave Sheriff Reams a check for over $7300 today that will help our Deputy and his family during this time as they are away from home as he undergoes essential medical treatment.

Our Deputy’s recovery has been a battle for both him and his family and while he is doing much better, every day is still a struggle. His road to recovery will be a long one, but we are sure that the stress he and his family members are experiencing will be eased with the generosity they experienced over the weekend.

We would like to thank Team Tom, their employees, all of the competitors at the Jack Robinson Lifting Classic and everyone from the community who came out to show their support for the Weld County Sheriff’s Office and our Deputy.

If you get a chance, check out Team Tom in their new facility in the Greeley Mall!
