Hwy 257 is closed between WCR 52 and 54 in Milliken due to an accident. It is unknown how long this closure will be in place. If you are traveling that way, please find an alternate route.

Drive safe everyone. The weather has made the roads slick in many areas.

Animal Control Officer Steeves was featured in a great story by the Greeley Tribune today. Steeves recently adopted a dog that he interacted with during a call for service. Here is the link to the article.

Meet the latest addition to our K9 team.

Ringo (an 18 month old German Shepard) and his handler Deputy Rexroad (the human in the picture) are the newest members of our K9 Unit. Rexroad started with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office in 2013 in the Detentions Division and in 2014 he transferred to our Patrol Division.

Though Rexroad is new to the K9 Unit, this is not his first interaction with our 4 legged deputies. Rexroad has been involved with the K9 Unit for over a year as a Decoy. The Decoy assists the Handlers during training by hiding objects for the dogs to find, and suiting up in protective gear so that the dogs can practice their apprehension skills.

Rexroad says that Ringo is a high drive dog, who will be used for narcotic detection, apprehension and tracking. Both Rexroad that Ringo are still in their training phase, but they are having a great time getting to know each other.

Welcome to the team Ringo, and congratulations Deputy Rexroad!
