Yesterday, Sheriff Steve Reams and the Weld County Board of Commissioners recognized Detective Robert Roberts “aka” Bob Bob, for 24 years of dedicated service to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office and to the citizens of Weld County.

Detective Roberts has retired, and the Sheriff’s Office will not be the same without him. Roberts was always a wonderful source of information and support for other deputies here in the agency and he has influenced a large number of new deputies as they began their careers here at the Sheriff’s Office.

We hope that Robert enjoys retirement, but we also hope that he knows that he is always welcome here…. Bob Bob, you will be missed very much.

Good luck, and enjoy retirement!

Deputy Rodney Martinez was awarded a life-saving award today. Deputy Martinez was working in a housing unit when he and his trainee heard a noise and saw an inmate standing at his cell door, grasping his throat. Realizing the inmate was signaling that he was choking, they immediately accessed the cell. Deputy Martinez then performed abdominal thrusts and was successful in dislodging food that was choking the inmate. Medical personnel said that Deputy Martinez’ actions prevented serious injury, or death.

No Shave November

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office has a strict policy regarding facial hair while on duty. While we take our appearance seriously, and strive to be professional in everything we do, there are times when it is acceptable to bend the rules a little bit!

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in No Shave November in an effort to raise funds and awareness for cancer patients around the world. A simple thing such as growing facial hair, or having fun with a hair style is a luxury to those who are undergoing cancer treatment.

Any employees who choose to participate in this program will be raising funds through www.noshave.org; an organization devoted to raising funds for cancer research as well as providing free information and services to cancer patients and their families.

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office felt it necessary to inform the Weld County community of this event, as we did not want anyone to think there were imposters with stunning facial hair or amazing hair styles in the community working to serve and protect the citizens of Weld County.

If you would like to join us as we raise funds and awareness for this cause, please visit www.noshave.org and donate.
